Thank You for Supporting Our Bamboo Community Livelihoods Social Enterprise: We Will Be Back!
By David Booth - Founder & CEO
We have nopositiveupdates since ourlast report as the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic are now much worse that we reported in October, and as a small home-grown social enterprises businessthatdepends on orders and revenue from the domestic, tourist and overseas markets, we have been seriously impacted.
We’ve had a few inquiries for our bamboo bikes from overseas but the airfreight costs are now almost double the normal rates, with no definite schedulesdue to travel restrictions in Indonesia and most other countries.
We are trying to survive but with no orders, and thus no revenue, for more than 6 months, all our artisans have been working on alternate weeks for the last 2 months and we’ve paid their 50% salaries.
We have therefore decided to deactivate this project on GlobalGiving platform and focus all our fundraising activities on our education programs. We do however plan to revive our Bamboo Social Enterprise page on GlobalGiving when the COVID-19 pandemic is no longer a threat and the world is back to an active new normal.
I hope you enjoy the attached photo collages, visually documenting key stages in our Bamboo Bikes, Wheelchairs & Bamboo Accessories journey since 2016!
