Making sure no child begins school empty-handed

For many children, the start of a new school year brings excitement: the promise of new books, new friends, and new beginnings. For children from migrant families, however, returning to school is often far less certain. Frequent migration, financial hardship, and the pressures of daily survival can make even the basic essentials of schooling difficult to afford.

Sampark’s Back to School Campaign aimed to change that. Before schools reopened, 10 migrant children across Bangalore, India, received school bags, stationery kits, and books, giving them the essentials they needed to walk into their classrooms prepared, confident, and excited to learn.

Creating a Stronger Start

The campaign supported children enrolled in government schools, helping them return to school with the dignity and confidence of being prepared, just like their peers.

Beyond providing school supplies, the campaign helped:

  • Ease the financial burden on migrant families struggling to meet everyday needs alongside the cost of education.
  • Strengthen school readiness and attendance by ensuring children had the materials they needed to participate fully in class.
  • Build confidence and belonging, helping children begin the academic year feeling prepared and valued.
  • Protect continuity in education, reducing one more barrier that could push children towards dropping out amid the uncertainties of migration.

For these 10 children, a school bag was more than a bag, and a stationery kit was more than a set of supplies. They represented a message: they belong in school, their education matters, and their dreams deserve a chance.

We are deeply grateful to every donor who made the Back to School Campaign possible. Together, we have helped 10 migrant children take another step towards a brighter future, reminding them that their education matters, their dreams matter, and they deserve every opportunity to learn and grow. Thank you for standing with these children and helping keep their journey of learning on track.
