Report on AVP workshop for students in Rwanda

By Donatien NDIZEYE | M&E Officer

The planned workshop on the Alternative to Violence Program (AVP) for students aims to equip young individuals with conflict resolution skills, promote peaceful communication, and foster a culture of non-violence within the student community. This initiative, designed to address the growing need for conflict management among students, is critical to creating a more harmonious learning environment. However, due to limited funds, the implementation of this much-needed program has been delayed. This report outlines the objectives of the workshop and a call to well-wishers, the GlobalGiving community, and donors to support this impactful initiative.

Workshop Objectives

The AVP workshop is structured to achieve the following key objectives:

1. Conflict Resolution Skills: Teach students practical techniques to resolve conflicts peacefully and reduce violent behavior.

2. Non-Violent Communication: Foster effective communication skills that emphasize empathy, understanding, and non-aggression.

3. Self-esteem and confidence in handling disputes, encouraging proactive approaches to conflict prevention.

4. Community Building: Strengthen relationships among students, promoting unity, mutual respect, and cooperation.

5. Long-Term Impact: Create a sustainable model for violence prevention that students can apply beyond the school environment, potentially influencing their communities.

Call for Support

In light of the current funding challenges, we appeal to Well-wishers, the GlobalGiving community, and generous donors to consider supporting this project. By contributing, you will be investing in a brighter, more peaceful future for the students who will benefit from the skills and insights gained through this workshop

Conclusion

The Alternative to Violence Program workshop for students represents a vital opportunity to address issues of violence and conflict in schools. By empowering students with the knowledge and skills needed to manage disputes non-violently, this program has the potential to create lasting positive change. We urge all potential donors and supporters to join us in making this project a reality.

Thank you for your continued support.
