The therapies provided at Tamahar are - 1. Physiotherapy 2. Occupational Therapy 3. Speech Therapy 4. Yoga 5. Music This campaigns aims at raising funds for this program for 1 year.
When dealing with disability in children, the problem is seldom isolated to one aspect of the individual. Early Intervention is focused on neurological and intellectual development of the child and they can only have a limited impact on the physical condition of the child. For the physical issues, specialized treatment is required. Example - Those with Cerebral palsy rely heavily on physiotherapy and speech therapy to develop movement, coordination and basic skills like walking or chewing food.
In the absence of auxiliary therapies, the physical condition of the child can pose a serious challenge to the core therapy and development of the child. Continued therapies over time help reduce the impact of physiological and cognitive impairment and aid the core development of the child. Tamahar is a staunch believer of the 360 degree approach - Only through collective efforts of interventionist, therapist and parents will the child improve.
If not addressed in the early years, physiological problems in children worsen as they get older. Over time, it will start hampering their daily functioning and their ability to participate. Starting therapies early in conjunction with core development contains this damage and directly improves the effects of developmental interventions. It leads to a higher quality of life and increased likelihood of inclusion in society.
