Climate change is one of the most urgent challenges of our time, yet autistic youth in Kenya and East Africa are almost completely excluded from environmental action and advocacy. They face double marginalization: first from stigma around autism, and second from being overlooked in national climate conversations that affect their lives directly - from food insecurity to pollution to displacement. This exclusion denies them both voice and visibility in shaping a sustainable future.
The Autism Champions for Climate project creates an inclusive platform where autistic children and youth actively participate in climate action through tree planting, school and community awareness sessions, and storytelling.
