The art of empowering

BRINGING THE BOSS WOMEN FEMALE EMPOWERMENT PROGRAM TO THE CITY OF AREQUIPA, IN PERU

Since the beginning of the economic and political crisis in Venezuela in recent years, a large number of Venezuelan migrants have arrived in Peru.
According to data from the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) and the IOM, Peru became one of the main destinations for Venezuelan refugees and migrants in Latin America.
Arequipa, as one of the main cities in southern Peru, has received a growing number of Venezuelan refugees and migrants, within these figures a large percentage are women.
These women, in many cases, migrated without support networks and found themselves in a complex and lonely reality. Faithful to our commitment to empower women, to prevent Gender-based Violence. APPV made the commitment to reach these women in Arequipa and provide them with the necessary tools through knowledge so that they can identify and prevent gender-based violence, create spaces for emotional stability and work on their economic independence and autonomy.
This empowerment program consists of three phases in which we focus on providing knowledge, emotional support and financial education so that the women participating in the program have the necessary tools to decide for themselves.
As an organization focused on defending the rights of women, especially those who, because they are refugees and migrants, are in a vulnerable situation, we seek to disseminate our BOSS WOMEN empowerment program, so that more women join our network every day. of support.
At AGTR and APPV we continue working so that the voices of refugee and migrant women are heard and their rights respected, because there is only one path to integration and we need to walk it without stereotypes.
