We are excited the pandemic is coming to an end and we can resume our physical community medical outreaches. Despite all the challenges of the Covid19 pandemic in 2021, Ask The Paediatricians Foundation has continued to actively support families online and offline through our various programmes in Nigeria and Ghana chapter.
Ask The Paediatricians Foundation held her first ATP leaders meeting via Zoom on the 30th January 2022. Our State and Zonal Chapters leaders are very excited about the outreaches for 2022. We are looking forward to being back on the field and returning to our usual physical outreaches as the pandemic begins to wane globally. We are currently in the planning and preparation phase for the 2022 Outreaches in May and October 2022. We have also started fundraising locally at the various chapters.
As part of our preparation, Lagos State Chapter has already done an initial pre-outreach visit to Badagry area of the State where we have never had any outreach previously. We are so excited as well as the members of the communities to welcome our team in May 2022. Two members of our team inspected the proposed venue for the outreach - the Town Hall and the Open Space not too far from the Town Hall as well. We are looking forward to reaching out to the Badagry and all other communities throughout the countries of Nigeria and Ghana; and very soon other neighbouring West African countries. Keep watching this space and keep supporting us.
Our online outreaches have continued with full speed since we resumed from the Christmas holidays on the 10th January 2022. We have continued to answer thousands of questions each week and promoting good health for children via our social media channels. We joined the rest of the world to advocate against Female genital mutilation on the 6th February 2022 on the International Day of Zero Tolerance to FGM and created awareness about cancer and epilepsy. We have used the celebrations of these health days to promote awareness about these conditions. We encouraged everyone to show love to people with Epilepsy on the World Epilepsy Day on the 14th February 2022. We have created online classes to support Pregnant and First Time mothers via Zoom classes to promote better child survival with the taster class starting on the 19th February 2022 and the full 12 week courses starting in March 2022. We are impressed with the uptake of these programmes which we believe will contribute to reduction of preventable child deaths.
We are very delighted to welcome our 8 newest interns who will be supporting with the administration and management of our social media pages online. They have since resumed in February 2022 and are so excited to be part of our mission to reduce preventable deaths of children in Africa. We are so excited about the impact and changes they are bringing to help us reach our goals for the year 2022.
We aim to reach at least 100,000 children in Nigeria and Ghana in 2022. We will appreciate your generous support to make this possible. Beyond this, we are planning to support our schools with first aid care skills training for teachers and students including distribution of thousands of First Aid information tips for the students and First Aid Boxes to the schools.
