We write today with gratitude for your continued interest in the Assistive Tech for Ethiopians with Disabilities project by the Hailay and Tsehay Foundation.
Since our last report, we have received an additional donation, and we are truly grateful to the donor who has helped move this project forward. While we have not yet received enough funding to begin project activities, this contribution is an encouraging step and a reminder that every donation matters.
The project goal remains US$60,000, and funds are still needed to launch the first phase of this important work. Our aim is to provide affordable assistive devices, such as screen readers, Braille keyboards, and mobility aids, along with training so persons with disabilities in Ethiopia can participate more fully in education, employment, and community life.
Although fundraising has not yet reached the level needed to begin purchasing and distributing assistive technologies, we continue to build awareness and readiness behind the scenes. We have been actively promoting the Foundation through our Facebook page and other social media platforms, including accessible-format videos to share our mission, activities, and the urgent need for assistive technologies in Ethiopia. These efforts help potential donors see firsthand what their support would make possible.
We also continue to connect with other like-minded organisations and sign Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) with partners who can work with us to further our cause.
With the right funding, we believe we can begin with pilot distributions and training, and then scale up to broader outreach. Your gift of any size can help us launch the first phase of this work and send a powerful message that inclusion matters.
