We write today with deep gratitude for your continued interest in the Assistive Tech for Ethiopians with Disabilities project, championed by the Hailay and Tsehay Foundation.
We are immensely thankful to the donors whose generosity has helped us kick off this mission. Addressing the lack of assistive devices is a profound humanitarian concern, and while our total funds raised so far represent only a small percentage of our ultimate target, this contribution is an encouraging milestone that reminds us how every single gift matters.
The project goal remains US$60,000, and funding is still vital to launch the first phase of this important work. Our overarching aim is to provide affordable assistive devices such as screen readers, Braille keyboards, and mobility aids alongside tailored training. This will empower persons with disabilities in Ethiopia to participate more fully in education, employment, and daily community life.
While fundraising has not yet reached the threshold required to begin purchasing and distributing these vital technologies, we are actively preparing and building momentum behind the scenes. Our team has been raising awareness by promoting the Foundation through our Facebook page and other social media platforms. We have also been creating and sharing accessible-format videos to highlight our mission, showcase our ongoing advocacy, and emphasize the critical need for assistive tech in Ethiopia. These digital efforts allow potential partners and donors to see firsthand the life-changing impact their support will create.
In tandem with our digital outreach, we are continuously networking with like-minded organisations. We are establishing partnerships and signing Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) with groups that share our vision, ensuring we have a strong collaborative network ready to deploy. Once the necessary funding is secured, we intend to initiate pilot distributions and training sessions, which will lay the groundwork to scale up for a broader regional impact.
