REPORT 1
Once again “thank you” to those who have donated to our project.
Using community volunteers and the children themselves 15 new ex-child slaves have been identified in Senya Breku community. Identification continues for more ex-child slaves in all the other communities we work in. Those found will go through an initial screening to ensure that only true ex-child slaves benefit from support.
Senya Breku is a fishing community situated on the Atlantic Coast of Ghana. This was where the Dutch in 1705 built Fort de Goede Hoop, translated as Fort Good Hope (shown below), because they hoped that the trade in gold, ivory and slaves would boom. The Dutch also built a similar Fort Good Hope in South Africa near Cape Town.
