ASAP is proud to present our First Symposium which will take place in Managua Nicaragua. The Symposium will be directed by our main speaker and guest of honor Doctor Eric F Wagner. Doctor Eric Wagner is a Professor in the Stempel College of Public Health and Social Work at Florida International Univeristy, where he directs FIU-BRIDGE. Doctor Wagner earned his PH.D. in clinical Psychology form the University of Pittsburg, completed a post-doctoral fellowship at the Brown University Center for Alcohol and Addiction Studies, and is a licenced psychologist in the State of Florida and Rhode Island. Dr. Wagner's interests are in the areas of adolescent substance abuse, the empirical evaluation of community-based psychotherapeutic intervention, and developing and testing developmentally sensitive interventions for minority teens.
The symposium will have 5 panelists joining Doctor Wagner. All the panelists invited to attend are professionals in the field related (in some way or another) to the prevention and treatments of alcohol abuse. The main theme will be to facilitate information on addiction to alcohol, highlight the importance parents are in the prevention of alcohol consumption among their kids.
Adolescents who know their parents' opinions about youth drinking are more likely to fall in line with their expectations.
Working with the community to promote dialogue about underage drinking and the creation and implementation of action steps to address it.

ASAP for youth is being invited to attend a mini symposium at 2 schools during our visit to Managua. School of St. Agustin and Lincoln School will be participating. Doctor Wagner will be speaking to younger kids about the prevention of alcohol among youth.
