The seniors in The Angel Projects' Elderly Project are thriving in their golden years! After an intense health scare a couple of years ago, Yudes has recovered and is living her best life -- she is so happy when the staff members come to visit her, and she even dances in her front yard. It has been wonderful to watch her recuperate and enjoy life. She was very happy this summer when one of our U.S. founders arrived in Rubuguri with the gift of some new dresses. Yudes was so thankful and excited to try hers on!
This season has been a little more difficult for Nyirankoko, who was hospitalized in early August. She had been experiencing problems with her legs, eventually losing the ability to walk. The local doctors were doing what they could to help her, but unfortunately they don't have the equipment or diagnostic capabilities to determine what was actually causing the pain. They were treating her symptoms as best they could, but we decided to seek out some answers as to the root cause. Eventually, the team took Nyirankoko to a larger town with a better-equipped hospital and a specialist so that he could perform some tests and determine the best course of treatment. Because of our generous donors, Nyirankoko's transportation costs, hospital bills, food, and everything else she needed were all covered. We are so happy to report that Nyirankoko is now doing so much better. Her pain is improving, and all of her vitals looked good at her last checkup! She has also been attending physical therapy and has regained mobility.
We are so happy and thankful for the progress we've seen Nyirankoko making, and we truly appreciate our donors who continue to support her journey. Despite her struggles, the doctor was impressed with how good her blood pressure and other vitals looked, and we know that this is a result of the nutrition and care she receives through the Elderly Project. Our wonderful Ugandan staff members work day in and day out to ensure that Nyirankoko and the other elderly community members are living the fullest, healthiest lives possible. Their physical well-being is only one part of that; we also know it's important to bring them love, companionship, and encouragement, and we are so proud of our staff members who treat the members of the Elderly Project with dignity, respect, and love. They really are special people who make their community a better place!
Of course, the work done through the Elderly Project is very much a group effort. Every donation from our sponsors brings huge change, and we are so grateful for YOU! Thank you!
