Angel Projects Uganda's Elderly Project continues to be a huge success, due in large part to two of our staff members, Jen and Jolly. These two women work tirelessly to help the members of this program live a completely healthy life in every aspect: physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. Jen and Jolly work hard to bring nutritious food and other supplies to the elderly community members' homes, and they also assist with such tasks as cooking, farming, gathering firewood, bathing, cleaning, etc. Besides the physical assistance, these ladies also spend time with the elderly in order to build relationships with them, give them company, and let them know that they are not alone and that they are loved.
In Uganda, there is no government assistance for the elderly. There are also no retirement plans for people who have spent their lives as rural farmers. So, unless they have family members to take care of them, many elderly community members suffer once they are no longer able to work. Many of them go hungry and live in filth because they are unable to grow food or complete the difficult tasks around their homesteads. The purpose of the Angel Projects' Elderly Project is to step in and assist the elderly who have no one else. We believe that no one should be left alone, particularly during the last stages of their life. These people deserve to live with dignity, receive medical care, and continue to be healthy and happy as long as possible. This project provides a very important service that is close to our hearts, and we appreciate Jen and Jolly for their hard work and dedication to the cause.
The elderly community members we're currently working with have seen their lives change in dramatic and beautiful ways; they are no longer sick, hungry, or hopeless. They have everything they need for their physical health and comfort, and they also have relationships that show them that they are not forgotten but are truly loved and valued. This project is possible only because of your support, and our hope is that through your generosity it can be expanded to include more elderly community members who are currently in desperate need of assistance. Thank you for giving!
