By Caryn Maxim | Executive Director, Grupo Cajola in North America
Unfortunately, unforeseen circumstances in Cajolá forced us to delay the Art Classes that were planned for February 2026. Marlon Davila was supposed to be in Cajolá for 8 weeks to paint another mural with the middle school students -- this time on Auxiliatura -- and then teach art classes. (The Auxiliatura is the home of the Indigenous Authorities and the design of the mural was a collaboration between Marlon and them.)
The mural has been postponed until October, 2026. We are still working to organize the Art Classes.
We are still seeking donations -- we have not achieved 100% of our budget to date -- but stay tuned and we will announce our new dates. The Maya Youth of Cajolá are still eagerly awaiting their Art Classes!
Thank you for your solidarity.
Caryn Maxim, Director
