Facundo is 12 years old and since he started school at the age of 6 he has been accompanied by Gabriel, a supportive godfather designated by the program "Padrinos Solidarios" promoted by ACDI.
In Dicember, Facundo finished the last year of his elementary school at the "Juan Eugenio Serú" school of Mendoza. He had been accompanied by Gabriel for more than 6 years.
For the child's mother, the participation in the Program was very important, so she decided to write a letter to the godfather, to say goodbye and to express her gratitude.
"I really want to thank you for taking care of my son. (...) This is the last year of school and I want you to understand how significative has been your presence in our lives" she said in a part of the letter, where she also mention the presents Facundo received dureing the last 6 years togather with the possibility to complete his scholarschip.
An annual closing action:
At the end of the year, before the Christmas festivities, ACDI encourages the exchange of letters between godparents, sponsors and children. This action is very important for both parties, since the sponsors are informed about what's new in the child' live, family and school. At the same time, children are called to write a letter to someone who, at a distance, accompany them affectively.
This moment is meant to reaffirm that beyond the concrete material help that distance sponsorship provides, the bond is the best tool of encouragement for the child and his family, and it returns to the sponsor as affection and gratitude.
