Alliance to Grow

Victor taking soil samples

In Amún Shéa we look for opportunities that allow our students to grow and reach an increasingly high potential, so we are in search of alliances that guarantee those growth opportunities in the various areas.

On this occasion we are very happy because the students of Technical Bachelor in Agribusiness are participating in the training process in coordination with the National University of El Salvador (UES) who through the faculty of agronomic sciences in the area of agricultural chemistry are teaching to our students the study of analysis of water, soil, regulations and legislation.

Teachers in Amún Shéa know that the processes of student involvement in various areas are a fundamental part of institutional strengthening, as Martín Ramos, Development Director and supervisor of the Amún Shéa productive area, comments: “Capacity building acquired with the support of The University of El Salvador through the Faculty of Agronomic Sciences, Department of Agricultural Chemistry, has allowed addressing issues of great importance for the eastern part of our country, such as:

1- The analysis of surface water for agricultural use and consumption, in which water quality can be determined by the method of analysis of existing aquatic macro invertebrates, and by the chemical method through a sample of water in the laboratory .

2- In the soil analysis it is possible to analyze some available elements from a quantitative analysis from the laboratory, but it is also possible to analyze in a qualitative way through a chromatography analysis, to have broader results of the soils that handle the farmers in the area. "

These processes allow high school students in agribusiness to acquire the necessary knowledge to carry out soil, water and tissue studies in the Amún Shéa laboratory, which was also built with the support of people who believe that the solution to environmental problems can be approached from the school, teaching children, young people and adults all the techniques to change traditional actions and promote an active participation in research.

Rural areas in El Salvador, as is the case of the municipality of Perquín for years, there was no access to educational programs that promoted research and would allow students through education to discover the true meaning of education and to make it relevant. according to their context of application, but efforts and alliances are allowing young people in rural areas to have access to quality education.

Victor is a high school student who exposes the importance of reinforcing the knowledge acquired through the alliance processes, in this case with the UES: “The experience with the National University not only allows us to acquire new knowledge but also allows us to develop the knowledge and skills that we already had, with the acquired knowledge we can become agents of change, enhance the development of the northern zone of Morazán, investigate and mentor local producers and the rest of Amún Shéa students ”.

At school, we encourage collaborative learning processes and high school students put into practice what they have learned by teaching elementary school students and local agricultural producers.

Dennys, who is also a high school student, affirms that the contribution of the alliance with the UES, the Foundation for Socioeconomic Development and Environmental Restoration (FUNDESYRAM) and the Organic Agriculture Movement, are a fundamental part of the educational strengthening “As students we have the opening of various learning possibilities, which means making the most of our knowledge and putting them into practice, achieving results that are visible in the educational community and in the environmental impact ”.

The commitment to strengthen the quality of education in Amún Shéa is still valid, we are convinced that the use of resources, opportunities and alliances will allow the growth and development of vulnerable areas of our country El Salvador.

We appreciate your interest in this project and we encourage you to join this effort, we also thank all those who through your donation are guaranteeing that in El Salvador we can build quality education in rural and disadvantaged areas.
