Another 40-foot container is being loaded at the Aquabox warehouse. It will be half filled with 250 Aquabox Gold Boxes, each containing Family Filter and humanitarian aids as already illustrated and described. There is particular emphasis now on further reducing any plastic content, including for example the use of bamboo plates imported from China. Care must also be taken not to include items which could be produced in Yemen, with related employment issues. Also being loaded are 10 Aqua12 units, where each unit consists of a standard container filled with 12 Family Filters, that is 120 filters in total.
The Aqua12 unit provides more life giving potential per £100 cost. Each Family Filter can produce 500,000 litres of clean water at a rate of up to 1 litre per minute.
The increased life of the filters over the last 10 years is related to, for example, the improvement of the filtration material, the improvement of the filter seals, and the more recent built-in backwash facility. The latter simplifies the daily routine to sterilise the plastic pipes in order to avoid contamination. There follows an image of the current Family Filter unit, which can be attached to a gold box case.
Cost to Aquabox of the next shipment:
250 Gold Boxes @ £150 per box = £37,500
10 Aqua12 Boxes @ £300 per box = £ 3,000
The planned date of shipment from the Aquabox warehouse is 12th December 2019. The container will again be sent to the J.O.Y. warehouse in Shipley to be filled with medical and educational items before being sealed for the journey to Yemen.
Again, the security in Yemen has been tightened such that we are still unable to provide pictures of the deliveries. This is to protect the safety of individuals involved in the delivery chain.
Thank you again for the support you have already given. Funding is an ongoing requirement. If you are able and inclined to assist again, please note that 3rd December 2019 is GlobalGiving’s GivingTuesday event, where on this day donations can attract bonus supplements from GlobalGiving during the time period 00:00 ET to 23:59 ET. This means starting at breakfast time in the UK.
Best wishes,

Dear Yemen supporter,
Firstly, I would like to express appreciation and thanks for the valued support already given.
Yemen August 2019
Our latest information from Yemen is that the container has arrived in Aden port and now cleared customs. To date we have no information regarding distribution. This information is unlikely to be forthcoming in the very near future due to the real danger of fatalities among the distribution agents. At the moment Aquabox are very aware of creating a risk by pressurising for this information at the moment.
Yemen plans 2020
Aquabox are planning to work with their partner charity JOY (Jubilee Outreach Yorkshire) to send a further container of aid in the new year and have requested further information on costings. Donations are being accumulated to help fund this second full shipment to Yemen.
Please refer to the attached pdf for other details, news and pictures.
Thank you again,
Michael Whetton
A larger 40-foot container was loaded at the Aquabox warehouse This was half filled with 270 Aquabox Gold Boxes, each containing Family Filters and humanitarian aids as already illustrated and described. The container was then sent to the JOY warehouse in Shipley where it was filled with medical and educational items. The container was despatched April 22nd.
The security in Yemen has been tightened such that we are unable to provide pictures of the deliveries. Only the Rotarian who arranges shipments knows the details of routes and contacts in Yemen. This is to protect the safety of individuals involved in the delivery chain.
Please look at the supplied pdf report for more details.
Thank you for your values support,
Michael Whetton
