Enrichment is a crucial part of proper care for the 24 native wildlife ambassadors at Piedmont Wildlife Center. One of our favorite indoor enrichment activities is painting! Using non-toxic, water-based paints, we can provide mental and physical stimulation for our animals while creating beautiful works of art. Another great part of painting is that most of our animals can take part in the fun! Our turtles and terrapins walk and slide through the paint, creating smears and abstract designs. Our snakes can slither or rub on the canvas to create patterns with their scales. Our opossums walk through the paint, leaving footprints and tail smears as they forage for yummy snacks scattered throughout. Our bunnies can even hold a brush in their mouth and swipe paint across the canvas. Each painting is a unique work of art and a representation of all of the hard work that goes into caring for our ambassadors!
Painting is also a great way to help fundraise for all of our animals’ needs. You can get your own PWC paw-some painting through either our Adopt-an-Ambassador program or through booking an animal encounter called a “Creature Feature”! Thank you for your continued support that allows us to offer such high-quality care and enrichment opportunities to our Wildlife Ambassadors.
