Did you know that a new bill to change Canada's 120- year old animal cruelty law was passed by all parties in the House of Commons twice in 2003, but the Senate stood in its way? Did you know that the outdated wording of the current law prevents the prosecution of many serious animal abusers? Only with your support can we intensify our efforts to re-engage MPs on the need for updated animal cruelty legislation.

Canada is widely considered to be a progressive, civilized country with plenty of laws on the books to protect its citizens from various forms of violence, disorderly conduct, theft etc. But it has a dismal record when it comes to protecting animals from cruelty, abuse and neglect.

Only with support of caring and compassionate Canadians can we further engage Members of Parliament to realize that our outdated animal cruelty legislation needs to be updated to truly reflect the society we all want to live in.

Long-Term Impact

As this project is national in scope, your financial support will impact on how all animal cruelty cases are prosecuted across the country.
