Update Sichili Mission Hospital Ambulance

By Braulio Otarola | Executive Director

Dear Supporters,

We hope this message finds you well. We are excited to update you on the progress of our crucial initiative to secure an ambulance for the Sichili Mission Hospital, which serves as the primary referral hospital in the Mulobezi District.

Project Overview: The Sichili Mission Hospital, a vital healthcare facility in a remote area, currently lacks any ambulances. This means patients requiring referrals to other hospitals must rely on public transportation, which can be unreliable and expensive. Public transportation can take up to 24 hours and costs approximately one-third of the monthly minimum wage. Tragically, many patients never receive the necessary treatment due to these barriers.

An ambulance, specifically a Toyota Land Cruiser, would be a game-changer for this community. It would drastically improve patient transport and allow emergency medical technicians (EMTs) to begin treatment on the way to the hospital, significantly increasing survival rates in life-threatening situations.

Current Status: We are pleased to report that we have made significant progress towards our goal. Through generous external donations, we have come closer to our target amount. However, we are still working to raise the remaining funds needed to complete the purchase. Despite the limited funds raised through our platform, we have secured additional financing from other donors, helping us move forward.

Why This Matters: In emergencies such as heart attacks or severe injuries, every minute counts. According to the American College of Emergency Physicians, “If you live in a remote area, it can probably take a rescue unit quite some time to arrive, and in some rural areas, response times can be significant.” An ambulance will make a critical difference in saving lives and improving healthcare outcomes for over 10,000 people in this district.

Ongoing Efforts: We continue to actively fundraise to bridge the remaining gap. Every contribution brings us closer to making this essential ambulance a reality. Your support is crucial in ensuring that we reach our goal and enhance the healthcare capabilities in Sichili.

How You Can Help:

  • Donate: Every dollar counts and will go directly towards the purchase of the ambulance.
  • Spread the Word: Share our campaign with friends and family to help us reach a wider audience.
  • Get Involved: If you’re interested in contributing in other ways or have suggestions, please reach out to us.

Thank you for your unwavering support and dedication. Your involvement is vital in transforming healthcare for the Sichili community. We are confident that, with your continued help, we will achieve our goal and make a significant impact.

Stay tuned for more updates as we move forward. For more information or to contribute, please visit our website or contact us directly.

With gratitude,
