America's Gold Star Families annually awards scholarships to family members of a fallen hero while serving active duty. Each is a non-renewable scholarship to be used at a college/university or trade/vocational school of their choice to enable them to follow their aspirations for a higher education or vocational certification. This is our way of saying 'Thank you from a grateful nation.
Many Gold Star families - the surviving spouses, children, and dependents of fallen U.S. military service members - face financial challenges when pursuing higher education after the loss of their loved one. The rising cost of college, trade schools, textbooks, housing, and other educational expenses can place a heavy burden on families already coping with emotional and economic hardship.
This project will help Gold Star families overcome financial barriers to higher education by raising funds for scholarships for eligible students attending college, university, trade school, or vocational programs. The scholarships will help pay for tuition, textbooks, school supplies, technology, transportation, and other educational expenses. By easing the financial burden, students can focus more on their education and career goals instead of worrying about costs.
This project will create lasting opportunities for Gold Star family students by helping them complete their education, build careers, and achieve financial stability. Scholarships reduce financial stress, increase graduation opportunities, and honor the legacy of fallen service members by investing in the future success of their families.
