The PEPY Alumni Association holds regular fundraisers, including an annual 90K cycling event to support the Scholarship for Higher Education program; benefiting students from disadvantaged rural areas to continue their journey to pursue higher education or vocational training. The Alumni Association help underserved youths, just like they used to be, reach their potential by helping facilitate support services and mentorships, internships and job placements to current and former PEPY students.
In rural Cambodian communities, low-income families must often choose income over education. Youths are pressured to drop out of school for dangerous jobs or illegal immigration. The Scholarship project works to increase the number of university/vocational school graduates in our target areas by providing 3 years of tuition, a bicycle with safety gear, computer access, 1.5 years of living allowance, and healthcare to provide the capacity to pursue careers to improve the quality of their lives.
PEPY's Scholarship for Higher Education provides university tuition and extra courses to rural youth to help them take the first steps to be future leaders, entrepreneurs, skilled employees, or follow the path of their choice. PEPY offers soft skills coaching including teamwork, confidence, public speaking and problem-solving. The English Learning Project, ICT (Information Communications Technology) Course, and business classes leave PEPY Scholars confident, skilled and ready for their futures.
With support from the Scholarship for Higher Education, rural youths have gone on to work as teachers, accountants, lawyers, school principals, nurses, entrepreneurs, and politicians among other professions. The Association works throughout the year to raise awareness, share community spirit, resilience, and the meaningful impact PEPY and higher education have in the lives of these deserving students. We empower young individuals to achieve their dreams and give back to their communities.
