Health Screening for Flood affectees

By Muhammad Imad Ud Din | Project Leader

Title: Health Screening for 300 Flood-Affected Families in Buner, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

Summary

Alkhidmat Foundation organized a comprehensive health screening activity for 300 flood-affected families in District Buner, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, ensuring timely medical assessment and preventive care for vulnerable communities.

This initiative is part of Alkhidmat’s ongoing nationwide flood-relief and healthcare response, through which more than 200,000 people have received essential support since August 16.

Story / Update

Following the devastating floods in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, families in Buner have been facing heightened health risks due to stagnant water, poor sanitation, and damaged infrastructure. Children, women, and elderly individuals are particularly vulnerable to illnesses such as diarrhea, respiratory infections, skin diseases, and fever.

To address these critical needs, Alkhidmat Foundation deployed its medical team to conduct health screenings for 300 families. The activity included:

  • General medical checkups

  • Screening for flood-related illnesses

  • Distribution of essential medicines

  • Health awareness and hygiene guidance

Qualified doctors and paramedics provided personalized medical evaluations and counseling, helping families understand symptoms, preventive care, and treatment options.

Community members expressed deep appreciation for this timely intervention, which brought vital healthcare services directly to their area at a time when local facilities remain overwhelmed or inaccessible.

Beneficiaries

  • Direct Impact: 300 flood-affected families screened

  • Indirect Impact: Over 1,800 individuals benefiting from improved health awareness and treatment

Impact

  • Identified and treated early-stage illnesses common in flooded regions

  • Reduced risk of disease outbreaks among vulnerable families

  • Improved access to healthcare in remote and underserved areas

  • Strengthened community resilience through preventive health education
