Recent Visit to Nepal and Photo Competition

By Rosemary Hack | AIDSLink International Director

I just returned from a visit to Nepal and was, once again, blown away by the ministry and the impact the team are having in transforming people’s lives.

Two new support groups have started in distant regions. I had the privilege to visit one of them. We drove 7 hours over breathtakingly beautiful mountain passes to a distant town. About 15 people travelled up to three hours to meet together, we ate together and shared from our lives, encouraging people to lead healthy lives, keep taking their medication and to live in hope.

I was once again struck by the huge level of stigma and shame around HIV in Nepal, and realised that this group is one of the few places that people living with HIV can be open and honest about their lives and struggles.

In the light of this I wanted to let you know about an opportunity to help AIDSLink’s ministry in Nepal that will cost you nothing.

I am thrilled to say that we have been shortlisted in Global Giving's annual photo competition. Due to the sensitivity of the work we have to be very careful about which photos we post online as we want to protect peoples' identities and dignity, so we are extra happy at having been selected.

The final stage of the competition, is when we get our friends and supporters to vote for our photo. This is how the final winner is decided. Will you please take a couple of minutes to go on-line to cast your vote: Click here to vote. Voting is open from today until Friday (12:00:01 EDT). Why not do it right now!

If we win this competition we will be awarded US$1,000 to further the work.

Please feel very free to share this email with friends and family, so that they can also vote for us!
