Sima’s thoughts transformed
When Sima* heard about HIV positive person. She thought he /she need to be punished. She has been a teacher. One time her church organizes HIV/AIDS awareness training which she missed but she had curiosity about HIV infected people. She always had a question how they look?
One day she went with her sister went to the wedding service of her friend working with Aidslink Nepal. Both of them had good conversation as her sister and her friend shared that are working among people who are infected and affected by HIV and AIDS and in schools, in the south part of Nepal.
She was not sure what to do with such overwhelming news and information. After some time 2 staff members of AIDSLink Nepal invited and challenged her to join AIDSLink team. She believed that was a confirmation her and she decided to join the team. Since July she been taught a lot about HIV and AIDS, the ways of how it is transmitted and ways it is not transmitted. She was so excited about this and shared that her eyes were opened about the knowledge she received and learnt to embrace and show love to people infected and affected by HIV and AIDS.
One of the projects Aidslink has, is livelihood project. They organized one day of goat farming training for people with low income who are living with HIV. In that training Sima met a lot of people living with HIV. As this was the first time she met people who are leaving with HIV, she was amazing to see that they healthy and normal people and medication gives them longer life to still leave and experience. Now she wants to live with them and share her love with them in action as she serves them.
A big thank you to all the support you have given to AIDSLink in Nepal for all the work that they are doing and they transform lives like Simas.
