Aiding Venezuela: Helping those in need.

Over the past few months, the Wayuu Taya Foundation has continued providing humanitarian assistance to communities across Venezuela through our water, health, nutrition, education, and community programs. The response to the two earthquakes that struck northern Venezuela on June 24 has placed additional demands on our team and resources, but our regular programs have continued alongside the emergency work.

As the new school year began in September 2026, we distributed protein-fortified rice to 93 schools, two nutrition centers, and a community kitchen in the Mara and Guajira municipalities of Zulia State. Through our partnership with ACCESO, we also continue to receive fresh fruits and vegetables for food programs that prepare hot meals for local communities. Between July and September, more than 80 tons of fruits and vegetables were transported and distributed across La Guaira, Caracas, and Zulia.

With support from Direct Relief, Food For The Poor, and Good Neighbors, we have continued distributing essential medicines and medical supplies to more than 200 health facilities across 20 states, including hospitals and public clinics serving remote communities. Between July and October, donations from Colgate Venezuela also allowed us to provide oral hygiene kits to 20,444 children. In addition, more than 1,600 hygiene kits were distributed to families in high-risk areas.

Our music programs have maintained their regular activities. More than 200 children and young people attend daily music classes through the Núcleo Fundación Wayuu Taya. Our partnership with Music Heals International also provides guitar, piano, and percussion instruction to 42 students. These programs give children a place to learn, practice, and share with their peers.
