Project aims to improve the health of mother and child living in rural areas of Kigoma region of Tanzania. The project will improve the health of mother and child through promote breastfeeding and proper infant and young child feeding (IYCF) practices in Tabora region, Tanzania. By educating mothers, healthcare providers, and community members about the benefits of breastfeeding and appropriate complementary feeding, we aim to improve child health outcomes and reduce infant mortality rates.
Malnutrition is responsible for over one third of child deaths every in Tanzania. According to TDHS 2010 shows that about 130 children die every day from causes related to malnutrition and it is the single greatest cause of child deaths in the country. More than 10 million women in Tanzania are anaemic due to iron deficiency and more than 1600 women die each year from anaemia during childbirth. Study shows that lack of knowledge on good nutrition is among of factor leading existing malnutrition
To provides comprehensive support to pregnant women and children under the age of five, including nutrition education, immunization, and access to healthcare services. Provide school meals, nutrition education, and school gardens to improve the nutritional status of school-aged children. Involving community members in planning and implementing nutrition interventions, such as promoting breastfeeding, complementary feeding practices, and hygiene.
Comprehensive support for pregnant women & children under the age of five, including nutrition education, immunization, & access to health services has been provided to women & children. School meals, nutrition education, & school gardens have been provided to improve the nutritional status of school-aged children, Community members have been involved in planning & implementing nutrition interventions, such as promoting breastfeeding, complementary feeding practices in Tabora & Kigoma regions.
