We are looking to fundraise to set up a modern Agri-Hub space that will support 15 local startup teams in Mauritius, that will in turn support the local food supply on the island. These local agripreneurs will be assessed based on three main criterias: (i) novelty of their idea, (ii) their ability to provide a positive benefit to the local food system, and (iii) their overall impact on people and planet.
Mauritius needs more innovators, more risk takers, and more entrepreneurs that work towards a fair and equitable food system. Building, and encouraging the many resourceful entrepreneurs here in Mauritius to build a resilient country, is much needed in the face of greater economic uncertainty and climate change.
The aim of the project will be to build a conducive space to allow like-minded individuals to meet, work and develop their ideas together. In return, they will bring their services, and product ideas to the beneficiaries in the local community. In times of crisis comes opportunity. Imagine if it came in the form of new ideas and businesses filled with purpose, that could address the challenges of tomorrow!
As the pandemic continues to unfold, this project will lessen the dependency on food imports, improve the health of the community and help local communities with job creation. This project is committed to supporting new ideas, especially if they are driven by young entrepreneurs. The long term impact is also the creation of new local enterprises focussed on benefitting people and planet.
