RECETAS SABOR A HOGAR-HOME FLAVOR RECIPES

By DAMARIS CASTANEDA JUAREZ | Project Leader

Hola Aliad@s!!

Hello Aliad@s!!

We love to share with you the impacts of your contributions, and this occasion is no exception.

In Mexico, every January 6, there is the holiday of breaking threads that are small oval pancakes, but inside they contain dolls and there are several stories about it. But this does not end there, each person who finds a doll in his slice is automatically committed to putting tamales, atole or something else for the celebration on February 2.

In this celebration we loved being present because with the recipe books inspired by everything that is done in the ovens and stoves, if ladies and gentlemen the different tamales and atoles are included. So Mrs. Rosa and her daughter Liliana, who already have theirs, live in Seattle, WA. United States. But they are originally from the Oaxaca Coast, they were encouraged to follow the tamales recipe and they were a success.

They shared their testimony with us, Mrs. Rosa tells us: "We look for the ingredients and we get excited with my daughter, there are so many foods that we miss from Oaxaca and this cookbook gave us light to make them, and we also share and teach my granddaughters the food from Mexico. It was the first attempt and we will continue testing the recipes."

These sensations are what drive us to continue, and with you it is possible. Together not only ovens and stoves are rebuilt, but also ties, traditions are maintained and knowledge is rescued. For all the women who rebuild their lives and communities and Alianza Civica Pinotepa Nacional AC we thank you infinitely.
