New Girls Dormitory at Milembe Secondary School!

The new girls dormitory is going up at Milembe Secondary School! Over the past three months, the Africa Schoolhouse team has been hard at work—laying the foundation, building block walls, and now installing the roof. The team is on track to complete the dormitory within the next month.

Right now, almost 50 girls are sleeping in the school’s Dining Hall as they eagerly await their move into the dorm. For these students, living on campus means more than just a bed—it means time and space to focus on their education. It means no more long, exhausting walks to and from school, and fewer hours spent on daily household chores—realities that too often hold girls back in rural Tanzania.

Thanks to donors like you, 56 girls will soon have a safe, supportive place to live and learn. This is more than a building—it’s a life-changing opportunity.

Update on Girls Center Project- and Interns!

Administrative Office Block- Almost done!

Africa Schoolhouse is excited to update you on our ongoing partnership with The Girls Foundation of Tanzania (TGFT) as we develop their new Girls Center in Arusha. Designed by Scattergood Design, the facility includes a girls' residence, an administrative office, housing for volunteers and the director, a library, classrooms, public restrooms, a guard house, and recreational fields. Currently, our team is focused on adding the finishing touches to the girls' residence, administrative building, and the director’s and volunteer houses. Progress is also advancing on the community library, classrooms, and public latrines. We hope to see girls moving to the compound in November!

We were thrilled to recently host three architecture interns: two from Ardhi University in Dar es Salaam and one from TGFT. These talented students gained hands-on experience in a range of construction tasks, including foundation work, building beams and trusses, wall finishing, stair formwork, floor settings, septic work, steel fixing, and window fitting. Pauline, the TGFT intern, is exploring the possibility of pursuing a career in architecture. The Africa Schoolhouse team loved seeing the interns enthusiasm and appreciated their contribution to the project as they developed their skills and gained practical insights.
