By Dr. Aimee Bessire | Africa Schoolhouse Founder and US Director
We are so grateful to the hard work of the Africa Schoolhouse construction team who completed the new Milembe Girls' Dormitory in 4 months! The girls are now settling into their new home. This dormitory is more than just a place to live—it’s a gateway to opportunity. It allows each girl to pursue her education, opening doors to a brighter future and helping break the cycle of global poverty.
With a safe, supportive space to call their own, the girls can now focus on their studies, build friendships, and truly thrive. Life here is a world away from what many experienced at home, where long walks to school and cultural expectations—like caring for younger siblings and managing household chores—often stood in the way of their education.
We’ve already seen incredible results. Many of the girls living in the first Milembe dormitory became top of their class through hard work and determination. Studies have shown that when you educate a girl, she will go on to educate her children—and that’s how lasting change begins.
You’ve made all of this possible. Thank you for transforming these girls’ lives. We are deeply grateful to you for all of your support!
