Challenge

The situation analysis of adolescent girls in the rural communities of Malawi shows that most girls endure treatable health and education problems including lack of livelihood skills. Education is not considered a high priority for girls, marriage is perceived as their ultimate goal. Adolescent girls have no voice in these matters, based on favors of cultural practices. Girl’s lack of power and status during adolescence is compounded by sexual issues.

Solution

The project will conduct advocay against harmfull cultural practices affecting girls, faciliatae livelihood and vocational skills for teen mother and other school drop outs including establishement of girls only clubs at community level.

Long-Term Impact

There shall be sustained safeguard of Adolescent Girls rights to protection from HIV/AIDS, including Reproductive health and livelihood skills that are key to their development
