This project aims to support women who are facing discrimination, recovering from substance abuse, and survivors of GBV by forming a women's soccer team. We will provide kits, equipment, and nutrition for 30 participants, including women, girls, and individuals who identify as lesbian. Additionally,we will establish a safe house for young girls, offering toiletries and meals. Our aftercare program will focus on teaching essential life skills to help improve their lives, providing sewing materials
There is currently gender inequality in South African women's football, as resources intended for the women's game are often allocated to the men's game instead. The situation is further exacerbated for women identifying as lesbians, who face additional discrimination. Women already confront numerous challenges, including gender-based violence (GBV) and substance abuse, as a result of being victimized. This project aims to alleviate the secondary victimization that these women experience.
By establishing this team, women will gain confidence, feel safe, and live positive lives free from drugs. They will receive training in skills such as sewing, enabling them to generate funds for themselves and inspire others to speak out against the dominance of men in sports. Additionally, the provision of nutritious meals and toiletries will help restore the dignity of these women.
The project will establish a women's soccer team that includes women who identify as lesbian. It aims to educate 30 women to advocate for themselves and others through sports. These women will, in turn, teach more women who are passionate about sports, promote healthier lifestyles, enhance their financial situations, and support their families.
