This update comes with both sadness and reassurance for everyone who cares about our meerkat family.
Sadly, during the recent flooding caused by heavy rains, we lost two of our beloved meerkats, Tinker Bell and Peter Pan. Their loss has been deeply felt by our team, and we wanted to share this news with honesty and respect.
In response to the extreme weather conditions, we introduced additional precautionary measures to further protect the meerkats during periods of heavy rain. When weather conditions are severe, they are now temporarily housed in an alternative enclosure as a preventive step. On colder, wet days, we also provide hot water bottles to help keep them warm and comfortable.
We would like to reassure you that Karools, Pinocchio, and Timon are safe, healthy, and doing well. Our staff and volunteers continue to monitor them closely every day and ensure they receive the best possible care.
Although the weather has been challenging, we are looking ahead with hope. We are very much looking forward to the return of the regular summer sun, when warmer days will allow our meerkats to enjoy their time outdoors again.
