Meerkats are fascinating and charismatic creatures that capture the hearts of many with their playful antics and strong social bonds. Let us tell you the story of our meerkat family. Karools joined DAKTARI in October 2023 to keep company to Gaspar, who sadly passed away of old age in June 2024. Karools was transferred to us from a meerkat sanctuary. As he was lonely, four orphaned meerkats were later transferred to DAKTARI by wildlife partners, forming a close family. Sadly, during recent flooding caused by heavy rains, we lost Tinker Bell and Peter Pan. Karools, Pinocchio, and Timon are doing well and remain closely bonded.
The funds from symbolic adoptions help pay for their food, maintenance of their camp, and veterinary services, including routine health check-ups, vaccinations, treatments for illnesses or injuries, and other medical interventions. Additionally, this support will contribute to their daily enrichment activities. The goal of these is to stimulate their curiosity and to provide them with the most natural habitat possible.
