Christine receiving farming tools and seeds
Christine is a 26 year old single mother of 2 living at Boroli Refugee settlement of Adjumani. She is HIV/AIDs positive and was severely traumatised. Christine like many refugee women living with HIV/AIDS has faced a lot of stigma and isolation from the community. She and her two children have entirely been reliant on food aid from World Food Program. This affected their health status due to poor nutrition.
Having supported christine through counselling, Voice for Humanity Uganda recently provided farming tools and vegetable seeds to Chritine so as to enable her to grow her own food to supplement their diet. Christine was so happy to receive an assortment of handheld hoe, panga, gamboots and assorted seeds of tomatoes and cow pease. 'With these support, atleast i will be able to have two or three meals a day as we have only been having one meal a day'. Christine hopes that she will be able to sell some and earn income to meet other basic needs for herself and her children including school fees. 'This is going to help us earn extra income to support with education of my children'. Atleast we have hope a gain', said christine.
We continue to provide counseling and other support to women and girls living with HIV/AIDs whose health would otherwise have been compromised but ca have renewed hope in life. We are grateful to individuial partners like you that make this possible.

Mathew harvesting his Tomatoes
Mathew (47 years old) has been living with HIV/AIDS for the last 10 years. In 2022, Mathew abandoned drugs due to lack of food and has completely lost weight. When Voice for Humanity Uganda had the first contact with mathew, he was weighing about 35Kgs. Through our palliative care program, we supported mathew to establisg a vegetable backyard garden so he could sustainably produce his own vegetable for eating and some for selling. With the Tomato seeds provided to Mathew, he has been able to have adquate diet and was able to enrol back on ARVs. ''I now have enough food to eat and I even sell my tomatoes to get money''. I feel my body is strong now. I follow my medication regularly becuase I have food to eat before taking my medication.
Through the support of many friends and donors, we have been able to support patients with palliative care to engage in Backyard gardening which does not only provide them with food but also helps them to sell excess and get money. Working with care givers to provide a source of food and income is crucial in giving hope to palliative care patients and their care givers.

Mary having breakfast during the training
Mary is a 15 year old south sudanese refugee living at Boroli Refugee settlement of Adjumani. She suffers from Epilepsy and is also deaf, she is a total orphan and under the care of her grandmother. Because of her health conditions, she was not able to continue with education and the grandmother feels overwhelmed with caring for her given she is also poor and with no source of livelihood. We recently enrolled Mary in our Agriculture program where she is currently receiving training in goat raring and will be receiving one female goat which Mary and the grandmother hope will support them to earn income. We are also continuing to provide the needed counseling support to Mary and grandmother where we use the grandmother to translate to her in SIGN LANGUAGE since she is able to communicate to her in sign language. We are looking forward to a better life for Mary and the grandmother. Your generosity has made this possible and we will continue to economically empower children with chronic illnesses to restore their hope and improve on their quality of life.
