CHALLENGES WITH THE PREVIOUS WATER SOURCE: DIFFICULTY IN ACCESSING WATER:
The goal of this project was to provide direct access to safe drinking water for 10 families. According to our prior assessment, these families had to walk between 3 and 6 kilometers daily to fill tanks and containers, ensuring they had water at home. However, this water was neither safe nor suitable for consumption, as it came from contaminated wells or storage facilities.
The proposed solution to address this challenge involves the construction of four cisterns, each with the capacity to store 16,000 liters of rainwater. Each cistern will serve four families as well as six additional neighboring households. The implementation of this solution offers several benefits, including guaranteed access to safe drinking water and the promotion of local employment opportunities.
The construction process typically spans one week of intensive work. Initially, the family participates by excavating the designated area for the cistern under professional guidance. Following this, contracted professionals, assisted by at least one family member, oversee the construction until its completion.
In June 2024, the construction of these cisterns was successfully completed, providing direct access to safe water in the homes of 10 families and indirectly benefiting neighboring families within the community. We extend our deepest gratitude to the donors involved for their invaluable support, which has enabled us to continue transforming the lives of those in greatest need.
We firmly believe that this initiative marks the beginning of a journey towards significantly improved quality of life for the members of the community.
