Sulekha* a student of Standard IV (4) in our Model School - ‘Kishalay Sishu Siksha Niketan’ (KSSN)’ located at Nandakumarpur village lives around in 4 Kms. away at Mirnagar* village within the remote Sunderbans delta region in South 24 Parganas district, West Bengal. She has been our student since last six (6) years.
Sulekha*’s father Sriman* works as a local quack in the vicinity while her mother Sriparna* is a homemaker. On an average Sriman* earns around INR 5000.00 per month. Thus their living standard is meager and financially sparse. Though both Sriman* and his wife are determined to continue their daughter’s education till the highest and aspire to see a brighter tomorrow.
As seen overall Sulekha* is an ardent learner and have interest in all subjects being taught. It has been observed that she has a deep keenness to learn various aspects of Computer Operations.
After a year time now she started learning Computers. It is observed that her interest in the subject is consistently growing. As her father has an Android Mobile Phone she continues learning Internet browsing with the device. She is a fast learner of various Computer Applications. Lovingly she helps her classmates in learning the subject and says “…it helps in my learning also…”
Sulekha* comfortably handles the ‘Paints’ application, changes the screen saver background –creates folder and names by her choice. Sulekha loves creating Word files. Thus she has created her own Resume´ in ‘MS Word’ file. She loves watching Cartoon series and play Games in Computer.
Very recently, she has started pointing locations with ‘Google Maps’. Thus she is very joyfully excited seeing her own village, house and various other places she knows including the places her relatives stay with the satellite imageries in ‘Google Maps’.
Thus, Sulekha* has displayed her growing competency in Computers. Being from too remote corner of Sunderbans where facilities of life are at too meager Sulekha* proves that if one receives a minimum support can utilize it to the maximum if wills with determination. Her consistent improving computer skills inspire us to dream of winning accolade for our school. In the truest sense of words she is a gift to our school.
