Access to Knowledge through Computer Education

A Story of Akash:

This is a story of a simple student of our Computer training centre. Akash, reading in 9th standard. He is staying at hostel of school because he is belongs from Baruipur area which is quite far from his school. His father is a daily labour and mother is simple housewife. Due to his father’s work load his mother is doing major duties as his guardian. Akash is involved with few extra activities in the school like Mid-Day Meal management, class monitoring etc. He is a bright student in his class and he loves to learn.

He takes admission to get digitally trained from our programme a couple of months ago. Before the training he had no knowledge about Computer and other digital devices. He had been charmed when he got the information about the functioning technology in digital world. He amazed when he knew that the digital devices use only ‘zero’ and ‘one’ to store any information however it is a text, graphics, music or video. He asks lots of questions related to computer and digital devices. His curious brain tries to grab knowledge about how a computer works. He also asks us about various domains of computer learning and the aspects. He is curious about how an engineer works with a computer in engineering field, how the computer games can be developed by game developer and what type of works done by any hardware engineer.

After completion of his training he decided to be a computer engineer in future. He has an aim to a better life with his family. There a motivation worked for him to get more knowledge about the digital world and make a career in the same field. This training gives him a vast way to think about his career in digital world. He also motivates other students in his school to take digital literacy training. We wish all success with a bright future for him in the future digital world.

Laboni’s Try.

There is a student, Laboni, reading in class IX, 15 years old. She has a little bit difference from other students in her class. Her brain is underdeveloped with respect to her age due to malnutrition. She lives with her parents.

She took admission in Feb-2017. She regularly attended her computer classes and also punctual in school and all other classes. She tried to understand all lesions of computer and tried to do all tasks but somehow she failed to do all the stuffs. As we like to take care of individual students, we also tried to make the task easier for her. We had tried to manage extra time to help her in the training. We had talked with her father to give more attention on her hand writing and study as well. She couldn’t remember any old lessons; she was also unable to do any simple practical work. But she loves painting and she tried to draw lots of things in MS-Paint. Her memory is too poor to write her own name properly. Her father came once to meet with us at the centre and told us about the poor situation of his daughter’s brain. We took it as a challenge and try to teach her all basic work with computer.

Now she is able to handle little bit of computer operation. She believes that she can be a part of Digital India. This training programme has changed her thinking about herself. She shows her interest in computer technology and tries to know more about digital devices and the operations of those. She tells us that she will learn more about computer to make a smarter career.
