Over the past months, Ipas LAC has expanded its technological innovation efforts to strengthen not only access to information, but also the broader conditions that enable safe abortion access across Mexico.
As part of this strategy, Ipas LAC recently launched Navegando la Marea Verde (Navigating the Green Wave), a digital self-learning platform designed to strengthen legislators’ communication and public engagement skills around abortion. Through this tool, users can access practical resources on strategic communication, storytelling, and advocacy, helping them better understand how to address reproductive health issues in public and legislative spaces. By equipping decision-makers with evidence-based tools and narratives, the platform contributes to creating more informed and supportive environments for safe abortion access.
The platform was officially launched through a virtual event that brought together legislators from states such as Guanajuato, Nuevo León, Jalisco, Yucatán, Mexico City, and Morelos. Through this process, participants strengthened their understanding of abortion as an essential health service and developed communication skills to engage in public and legislative debates. This initial rollout represents a key step in translating evidence and strategic insights into practical tools that can influence how abortion is discussed and addressed in policy spaces.
By strengthening the communication and advocacy capacities of legislators, this platform contributes to shaping more informed public discussions and decision-making processes around abortion. In contexts where misinformation and restrictive narratives can influence policy outcomes, providing evidence-based tools and strategic resources becomes essential. Through initiatives like Navegando la Marea Verde, Ipas LAC is helping create enabling environments where accurate information, public dialogue, and legislative action can work together to expand access to safe abortion.
