It's that time of year when we look back at 2017 and plan ahead for 2018! 2017 was an incredible year, and thanks to your amazing support, we were able to provide 627 modern cloth diapers to our Diaper Drop Sarah's Covenant Homes (SCH).
One of the precious children you're helping is a spunky little boy named Caden. Caden came to SCH shortly after he was born in July 2014, due to his family and the government orphanage not being able to meet his very specialized medical needs.
Caden has a condition called Epidermolysis Bullosa, which means his skin is as fragile as a butterfly's wing. Seventy percent of children with Epidermolysis Bullosa don't make it past the first year, but Caden (3), whose name means fighter, is exactly that and he has blown away doctors expectations. At SCH he is able to receive the daily dressing changes he needs to survive and SCH is dedicated to giving him the love and care he needs to thrive.
Recently, he traveled to Bangalore to visit an Epidermolysis Bullosa specialist. His foster Mom shares the following from their visit:
"I almost cried multiple times today watching Caden play. A year ago this photo would never have happened. He cried all the time, especially in new situations and was so insecurely attached to me I couldn't use the bathroom without him crying.Today he ran around and played at the park, rode in the train with Prasantha (his nurse), and had minimal tears when we saw his doctors to follow up. Everyone who we saw today, from his doctors to the manager at our favorite Bangalore restaurant, remarked on how healthy and strong he looked. He's a different child from the scared and sick baby I meet 2.5 years ago and though many days of tears, prayers, and good nutrition he's the walking miracle that he is today!"
Diapers are just one small part of his care, but a very important part! Thank you for helping to meet the diapering needs of the children at Sarah's Covenant Homes!
