Stephanie at Jake’s Diapers wanted to help babies in need all over the world, but she had a small team to help her accomplish the goal. By using GlobalGiving Time, Stephanie demonstrated her commitment to becoming more effective through skilled volunteering. Read her Listen, Act, Learn. Repeat. story.
In the United States, veterans struggle to transition from the military to civilian life, and it’s sometimes difficult to find jobs that cover their families’ basic needs. In Haiti, hundreds of babies suffer from malnutrition because their parents can’t afford to feed them. In Guatemala, some parents sort through trash, desperate to find things they can resell to support their children. Enter Jake’s Diapers, Inc. The nonprofit gives away cloth diapers to families in financial distress in the United States, Haiti, Guatemala and other countries all over the world. Jake’s Diapers has a big mission, but a small team. Co-founder Stephanie wondered how she could possibly meet her worldwide mission with so few staff.
Stephanie turned to GlobalGiving Time to find skilled volunteers to help her deliver diapers to thousands of struggling families around the world. She even launched a tele-volunteer and micro-volunteer programs to maximize her small team’s efficiency and accommodate volunteer schedules.
By having tele-volunteer opportunities, we are able to both decrease our personal workload and increase awareness of the work we do. GlobalGiving Time has been a true blessing, and we are eager to continue to partner with GG Time!”

Stephanie has learned how to leverage outside resources to maximize her impact. “As an entrepreneurial nonprofit, we are growing from the ground up. This means having a small core of passionate world changers learning how to embrace and grow the volunteer opportunities,” she told GlobalGiving.
