The Opportunity, Wellness, & Advancement Center project is underway! Our architect has drawn up final plans and soil testing has begun. We have raised 30% of our total goal to build and are currently on track to have 70% raised by the end of 2024. The building is expected to be finished in early 2027.
During the A2S Vision Trip (our annual trip with U.S. volunteers to join our staff and beneficiaries in Nigeria for expertise sharing), our A2S scholars had the opportunity to ask questions of A2S leadership. In expressing concerns for gaps in their education and prospects fo their future, we know that the OWA center will have many answers to the challenges they currently face. We look forward to the opportunity to provide engaging workspaces with ample resources, consistent power and internet access, and opportunities for students to earn while they learn to ease the pressures to drop out of school.
The need is great in the community we serve, but we are optimistic for how this space will change the trajectory of our kids' futures as they gain the opportunity to learn how to work in a professional environment, apply the skills they learn in the classroom to the real world, and network with professionals and mentors who care about their futures.
