Dear A2S Donors,
Land preparation is underway for our Opportunity, Wellness, and Advancement project! So far we have reached 60% of our fundraising goal and progress on the project is set to begin this fall. So far we are clearning and preparing the land so we are ready to build.
As we continue to work with our children and youth, the need for the programs that will go in this building are ever-present. Our scholars are looking forward to opportunities to find work experience at A2S. Our partners are excited for new ways to collaborate with our kids. Our After School Academy kids are looking forward to a consistent place to play at the athletic center. Our counseling staff is excited to build a team to better serve the wellness needs of our community.

Good Afternoon Donors!
Our Opportunity, Wellness, and Advancement (OWA) Center project is making progress. All of our building plans are finalized and awaiting final approvals from local authorities. In the meantime we continue to fundraise and develop the designs of our programs that will inhabit the space come 2027.
Our Scholars Program is launching an initiative we call Project RISE (Reach, Innovate, Sharpen, and Expand) that will provide work experiences for students while they pursue their university studies. We have a pilot group of 15 students who are being paired with local businesses to complete an in-semester internship to apply their skills in a relevant field. We can't wait to see how that continues to develop!
Project RISE is designed as a precursor to our SMART Hub in the Opportunity, Wellness, and Advancement Center. What we learn from this program and the skills our students develop will help feed smoothly into the start of the SMART Hub program in the OWA Center.
More updates to come soon! We are hoping to break ground in the second quarter of this year - pending approval of our plans.

Our team is preparing to bring this center to life. In the last quarter we have finalized and submitted plans for approval by the appropriate local authorities before the building project begins. We have fundraised 35% of our funds so far and counting!
Behind the scenes our staff on the ground in Nigeria are preparing for the transition in programs. The organizational chart is being developed, operations processes are being outlined, and programming is being designed so that we will be ready to get started once the center opens in 2027.
Most notably our Career and Guidance Counselor is working on a program for our university scholars that will allow them to explore work during the semester and over school breaks in a way that allows them to learn and earn alongside trusted local partners.
We are so grateful at A2S for how this project will allow us to see through our vision that each child finds a dignified path to success. The OWA Center will allow us to restore the gift of choice for our kids and raise a generation of leaders with integrity that will create change in the community going forward.
