The key highlight for this reporting period was the newsroom’s focus on key areas of politics, human rights, and accountability, producing a series of impactful stories that contributed to public discourse and informed change. In political reporting, URN extensively covered the anti-corruption protests, focusing on public outcry against widespread corruption and the government's response to the protests led by activists and citizens demanding accountability. The human rights coverage highlighted stories like the eviction of communities from wetlands, detailing the displacement of vulnerable populations and the human rights violations involved in the eviction process. Additionally, URN investigated the buse of public funds like the Parish Development Model (PDM) initiative, uncovering mismanagement in the allocation and distribution of resources intended to support rural development. These efforts sparked public dialogue, increased calls for transparency, and led to direct consequences such as protests demanding government action and investigations into corruption and the misuse of public funds.

The delivery of High-Quality, Professional, Fair, Accurate, and Balanced content enhances Uganda Radio Network's legitimacy in its obligation to strengthen the media. The technical, logistical and professional logistics have remained a challenge to enable URN meet its obligations of ensuring production of gender responsive content on accountability, human rights and citizen participation in decision making.

URN training across the country continues efforts to reduce the adverse effects of information dissonance by strengthening the capacity of media practitioners to detect, recognize and dispel misinformation and disinformation through training

So far, 80 participants in four regions have been empowered to use digital tools to identify and verify information found online. They were given fact-check practical exercises and tools.

They also learnt to differentiate between mal-information, misinformation and disinformation which many couldn’t properly distinguish before the training session

The training covered the current information ecosystem and its attendant opportunities and threats.
