This project will build an Institution for performing and creative arts in Uganda, to provide professional training for talented young people coming from humble backgrounds. They will be educated, equipped with skills in performing and creative arts, Leadership and entrepreneurship skills to help them manage their celebrity status & resources, & provide them with practical experience by the Troupe, a social enterprise of the organisation, to create alternative pathways for youth employment.
The art industry which is composed of majorly young people has been associated with failures in life and other professional fields including moral degenerates. There is not any academy in Uganda that prepares young people for this industry, and the government has continuously neglected this industry to the extent of scrapping it off in the school curriculum. This limits talent development, hence increased unemployed young people, exposing them to social ills, drug abuse, immorality & conflicts
It will develop a fully -fledged institution covering program areas, strengthen and establish strategic partnerships, do leadership development and training for future artists, develop a comprehensive and all inclusive curriculum for the academy and strengthen research and information management to help provide enough skills and capacity building of young artists, to be self driven, and become productive and independent, to positively transform society.
We want to see a space where art is connected to the community and used as a means of bringing about change in our socio-economic setting. This project will help us have productive and independent talented young people who are positively transforming society. We shall also have an increased number of young people effectively participating and benefiting from our program, hence reducing youth unemployment in our community.
