A School to build Conscious Global Citizen

Shwopnochura Shafat Memorial School started operation on January 28th, 2023 with 10 students in Kindergarten. We didn't start any other classes as we want the students in KG class to be familiar with the curriculam that focuses on Learning with hands on experience, activities, understanding the importance of responsibilities, hygeine factors, caring aboiut environment and people, mannerism and respect for each other. We would like the classes to be small and these 10 to 15 students receive a holistic approach to learning. 

We are also providing healthy snacks and regular physical excercise. Once these students are graduating to the next class, the new group of students in the KG will be admitted. 

We are assesing student in different criteria but not having formal exams so early.

Two teachers were being trained by a American State Award winning teacher who is from California and taught the teachers on Circle time, activity zones . 

We are in a pause due to some unrest before the National election and  also some instability in the local Ready Made Garments industrial zone and look forward to resume classess soon.

The Kindergarten classes started from the last week of January . Two teachers were hired and also being trained bi weekly by a veteran Teacher from a US primary school system and who received State's best Teacher Award in 2023.

New cohorts of students will be admitted after this class graduate to the next to keep the continiuty of the school culture and consistency in learning. With donations, we were able to buy two projectors and a screen for the class which is helping the kids to enjoy visual learning as well and would have access to International volunteer teachers to teach through zoom.

Nutritional snacks are being provided as we found out from a free health check-up that most of the kids in that locality are under nourished. With our limited fund, we are able to provide egg, 1 glass of meal and energy biscuits to the students everyday.

Due to the continious outage in the area, we are still in need of a generator or smaller electricity backup system soon as the summer is in full swing.

More partents are interested to bring their kids to the school but as its the middle of the year, we stopped admitting new kids. Also, parents with no income do not have to pay the subsidized monthly school fee which we are trying to compensate through individual donations.

With increased fundign we would be able to more educational programs for the kids in the community including trip to museum, competitions, community clean-up... We envision this school to be a positive changing force in the community.
