The Matilda Carepath Health Foundation presents "A Plate of Hope: Ending Classroom Hunger," a food relief initiative tackling classroom hunger among children in underserved communities. The project will provide daily nutritious meals to 150-200 students outreach in Alimosho LGA, starting with Idimu Community Schools and Peakwill School. With a cost estimate of $500 per day, our goal is to run this project on a continuous, sustainable basis with support from corporates, donors, and partners.
In low-income areas like Alimosho LGA, hunger is a major barrier to learning, with many children attending school without food. This leads to poor focus, low energy, absenteeism, and underperformance. Despite the need, few programs target daily hunger in community schools. "A Plate of Hope" seeks to bridge this gap by providing consistent, nutritious meals to improve learning outcomes and overall well-being.
Project Objectives To provide free, nutritious meals to school children in community schools. To improve class attendance and academic performance by reducing hunger-related distractions. To foster a culture of community support and responsibility around school feeding. To create a replicable model for food relief across other underserved communities.
The "A Plate of Hope" program offers long-term benefits by tackling hunger among children from low-income families. It improves access to education through increased school attendance and participation. By providing regular, nutritious meals, it enhances students' concentration, learning ability, and overall academic performance. The program supports better physical growth and emotional stability. Beyond the classroom, it empowers communities by fostering collaboration between schools, families.
