A New Beginning for 71 families in Colombia

Dear supporters,

Thank you for being with us since the beginning of this project. We started a bouncy journey and together we managed to give to the families in Los Medios village a chance to a brighter future. And this happened thanks to you, for taking the time to read and understand their story and for deciding to give it a twist. A brighter one.

In Los Medios there are currently 71 families that have returned to their homeland. The community has formed various committees, in charge of the good activity of the school, church, nutrition, law, economic and social issues. The production of panela work better and better and thanks to your generous donations, the manufacturers have professional equipment to work in a safe environment and produce a qualitative 100% natural product. The Los Medios community is currently commercializing panela to the Granada market, the closest municipality, increasing the confidence level in the local economic activity. As the production of panela is the main financial resource that brings income to the families in the village, the purpose is to continuously increase the quality of production and extend the distribution market in other municipalities also to contribute to the community development.

Hello dear friends,

As I told you in the last report, you have allowed us to help in a real way the community of Los Medios, because, while their visible heads have learned how to become better leaders; at the same time the community has also optimized the production process of Panela.

Remember that back in april 2013, thanks to your generosity, we could give equipment and inputs to the community, so they could produce Panela in a better way? Today, I’m very pleased to tell you that the community of Los Medios is currently commercializing their Panela production in the formal market that takes place in Granada, the closest municipality.

Nowadays the community is producing an excellent product very well packed, 100% natural and made in Los Medios. According to this new scenario, people are more confident about the economic activity they chose to make a living, and this situation has brought more people that have expressed their intention to join the existing producers to increase production quantities and sell more Panela, not only in Granada’s market, but in other close municipalities markets.

Although with the help of all of you we have made progress in achieving a better quality of life for the community of Los Medios, they still need our help to continue improving, therefore I extend again the invitation to keep supporting these people who each day send blessings to all of you.
