For too long, the people and free-roaming dogs of Myanmar have faced crisis with little support from the outside world. Yet every day, local communities continue to care for the dogs that share their streets, monasteries, schools, hospitals and neighborhoods. Let's Save The Strays International is changing that story. Since 2018, our Burmese-run and Burmese-led team has humanely sterilized, vaccinated and treated more than 40,000 free-roaming dogs through high-volume TNVR (Trap-Neuter-Vaccinat
Myanmar's free-roaming dogs face overpopulation, rabies and preventable suffering due to limited access to veterinary care. The crisis also affects children and communities living alongside these dogs. Through high-volume TNVR, rabies vaccination, education and local partnerships, our Burmese-led team creates healthier dogs, fewer strays and safer communities while preventing future generations of puppies from being born into suffering.
Our Burmese-led team partners with local communities to build the knowledge, skills and veterinary capacity needed to solve Myanmar's free-roaming dog crisis. Through high-volume TNVR, rabies vaccination, veterinary training and education, we help communities create healthier dogs, fewer strays and safer neighborhoods while reducing rabies and preventing future suffering.
This project creates lasting change by helping Myanmar build the veterinary skills, community partnerships and local leadership needed to manage free-roaming dog populations for the future. As more dogs are sterilized and vaccinated, fewer puppies are born into suffering, rabies risk declines, and communities become healthier and safer. The knowledge and capacity remain in Myanmar long after each clinic is complete.
