Update for desktop
By Elizabeth Firgeleski | Project Manager
The team looks forward to hosting an event that is aimed at collecting the funds for another desktop. This event will most likely be in March where the need is shared with our friends, family, and various networks.
The year has been a big one and next quarter we have an even bigger team working at the office. It will be a relief to have an additional computer and no longer be sharing, or coordinating schedules around the one. There have been too many instances where an intern or volunteer has had to leave the office due to lack of technology to work on. There are other times when we share on the one laptop when the desktop is being used -- seeing the one laptop get passed around is an interesting sight to see.
One of the reasons we need a desktop is to utilize our new database management software. We are thrilled to start organizing our donors inside Razor's Edge for the first time ever. Not only will this new software help us streamline processes, but the computer will be useful as we scale up as an organization. Another desktop is vital to the growth that we are experiencing. We have raised some funds but look forward to completing this goal by Spring 2013. The team looks forward to spreading the word with their networks about our need of another computer.

A Desktop for AGF

Karena sneaking on to Elizabeth's computer
Since our last update, our team has been immensely grateful for donations of all amounts. Tracing back to the founding of our organization five years ago, the AGF team has functioned as effectively as possible using the modest accommodations that are readily accessible.
The limited availability of the single desktop computer in the office has continued to curb the rate of potential progress of our efforts. While we completely condone a “sharing is caring” attitude, having the essential resources taken away from one team member in order for another to take on his or her assigned tasks compromises a faster momentum that our team is capable of. We can use all the help we can get, especially to support our recently launched initiative on the Pine Ridge Reservation.
Nonetheless, AGF always strives to generate the best results possible under given circumstances. We would like to thank our generous supporters and donors, whom without we could not have made it thus far. Your continued support ensures a more efficient execution of all the hard work done by AGF staff members and volunteers.

Desktop for A Global Friendship
By Meenu Mahajan | Senior Development Associate
A Global Friendship (AGF) would like to thank all its Global Giving donors for contributing to our campaign for raising funds for a new desk top at our Brooklyn office. Thanks to the contributions that we received we have raised $175 and are working to raise the balance of the money so that we can provide our diligent volunteer staff with a shared desktop.
AGF has been able to serve over 65 women artisans by providing them with sustainable business skills and marketing their handmade products in the US. This has been possible due to the dedicated support of about 35 volunteer staff and a 6 member sales team across the country. We are now supplying artisan made jewellery to over 140 storefronts in the US and many trendy catalogs/online stores.
While we have many volunteers willing to give their time generously, we are hampered by the lack of computer equipment in the office. We have just one desktop that is used by our volunteers. An additional desktop will enable us to use our volunteers time more effectively.
We continue our campaign to raise funds for our second desktop and thank you for your immensely generous support to AGF.
